Blue Spice Kitchen 🥢🔥Kimchi Fried Rice Anyone?
Sometimes the best flavors are found in the most unassuming places. If you haven't pulled into the Hardyston Mercantile plaza to visit Blue Spice Kitchen, you are missing out on what I consider the most exciting kitchen in the valley.
Owned by Frieda Barnett, who brings her mother’s 30 years of chef experience to the table, Blue Spice is a "Modern Asian-American" eatery that feels like a warm hug from a very talented friend.
The Vibe
It’s clean, modern, and cozy. It’s a BYOB, which makes it the perfect spot for a date night or a relaxed dinner with friends after a day on the slopes. The presentation is always "Instagram-worthy," but the flavors are the real stars.
What to Order (The "Must-Haves")
If you’re a first-timer, here is your roadmap to the menu:
Korean Fried Chicken (K.F.C.): Forget everything you know about wings. These are boneless, bite-sized, and glazed in either Soy Garlic or Sweet & Spicy Gochujang. They are dangerously addictive.
The "Volcano" Kimchi Fried Rice: If you want a show, order this. It’s served on a sizzling cast-iron plate with cheese and egg, often finished tableside. It’s comfort food with a kick.
Smoked Duck Appetizer: A local favorite. The duck is perfectly moist and served with a signature homemade wasabi cream that will change your life.
The Bao Buns: Fluffy, steamed buns filled with your choice of Bulgogi beef, charred pork, or shrimp.
The Insider Tip
If you’re coming for lunch, their Bento Boxes are the best deal in town. You get a taste of everything—protein, rice, dumplings, and salad—for a price that makes it a no-brainer for a mid-day break.
