SAVE THE DATE (March 7) Annual Karen Wiebel Memorial Race
The Karen Wiebel Memorial Race is an annual Giant Slalom (GS) event held at Mountain Creek. This year, it is scheduled for Saturday, March 7, 2026.
The History: The race was established in memory of Karen Wiebel, a passionate skier and dedicated volunteer who unexpectedly passed away in 1996. Her family started the race to honor her belief that ski racing should be a "winning experience" for everyone, regardless of where they place.
The "Everyone Wins" Tradition: Unlike high-stakes qualifiers, the hallmark of this memorial race is that every single racer receives a medal for participation. This makes it a beloved community event that focuses on family, friendship, and the joy of the sport.
2026 Details: It is specifically for junior racers in the U8, U10, U12, and U14 age categories. Registration typically happens at the South Lodge (Red Tail Lodge area), with the race kicking off around 10:00 AM.
